Your Child's First Visit
Children should begin regular dental visits by the age of 2. Visits at this age allow your child the chance to get to know the dentist in a friendly, non-threatening way. This also allows the dentist the opportunity to monitor your child's oral health and build a partnership with you to keep your child's oral health at its best.
Your first visit includes examining teeth for decay, examining gums and soft tissues, evaluating the bite, demonstrating proper home care techniques, and discussing fluoride requirements. Your child's teeth will be cleaned and fluoride may be applied. You may accompany the child to the examination area; during the exam you may hold or sit next to your child. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child to all dental visits.
